Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to provide a better user experience, and to supply information to the owners of the site.
Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services that the website uses ("third-party cookies"). Cookies can persist for varying periods of time: "session cookies" are deleted when you close your browser, while "persistent cookies" remain on your device for a set duration or until you delete them manually.
2. How We Use Cookies
Valyzen Travel (flyvalyzen.ai) uses cookies for the following purposes:
- Remembering your cookie consent preferences
- Keeping you securely signed in during your session
- Understanding how visitors use our site so we can improve it (only with your consent)
We categorize our cookies into three groups: Essential, Analytics, and Marketing. Non-essential cookies (Analytics and Marketing) are only activated after you provide explicit consent through our cookie banner.
3. Cookie Categories
Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take, such as setting your cookie preferences or signing in to your account. Without these cookies, the site cannot operate properly. Because they are essential, these cookies do not require your consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting information about pages visited, session duration, and feature usage. We use Google Analytics (gtag.js) as our analytics provider. The Google Analytics script and cookies are only loaded after you explicitly consent to analytics cookies through our cookie banner. No analytics data is collected until you opt in.
Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies are used to deliver personalized advertisements and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. We do not currently use any marketing cookies. This category is reserved for potential future use. If we introduce marketing cookies, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested before any such cookies are set.
4. Specific Cookies We Use
The table below lists the specific cookies used on our site, their category, purpose, and how long they persist.
| Cookie Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| valyzen_consent | Essential | Stores your cookie preference choices as a JSON object containing your consent status for each category and a timestamp | 365 days |
| valyzen_auth_session.* | Essential | Authentication session tokens used to keep you securely signed in and manage your session | Session / 30 days |
| _ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish unique visitors and measure anonymous usage analytics (pages visited, session duration). Only set after you consent to analytics cookies. | 365 days |
| (none currently) | Marketing | Reserved for future use. No marketing cookies are currently active. | N/A |
5. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on our site are set by third-party services that we use to provide functionality and analytics:
- Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com, google-analytics.com) — Provides anonymous usage analytics. Google Analytics cookies (prefixed with _ga) are only loaded after you consent to analytics cookies. Google processes data in accordance with their privacy policy.
- Our authentication system — Provides secure authentication and session management. These cookies are essential for maintaining your signed-in state and are set as part of the authentication flow.
We do not allow third-party advertising networks to set cookies on our site.
6. Your Consent
When you first visit our site, a cookie consent banner is displayed that allows you to choose which categories of cookies to accept. Essential cookies are always active because they are necessary for the site to function. Analytics and Marketing cookies are only enabled if you actively opt in.
Your consent preferences are stored in the valyzen_consent cookie as a JSON object containing your choices for each category (essential, analytics, marketing) along with a timestamp of when you made your selection. This cookie persists for 365 days, after which the consent banner will reappear so you can update your preferences.
7. Managing Your Preferences
You have several options for managing your cookie preferences:
Through Our Cookie Banner
When the cookie consent banner is displayed, click the "Manage Preferences" button to review and adjust which cookie categories you wish to enable or disable. You can accept all, reject non-essential cookies, or customize your choices by category.
Withdrawing Consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site. This will remove the valyzen_consent cookie, causing the consent banner to reappear on your next visit so you can make a new selection. Alternatively, you can contact us at privacy@valyzen.com and we will reset your consent preferences.
Browser-Level Controls
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically configure your browser to:
- Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
- Clear existing cookies when you close your browser
- Notify you when a website tries to set a cookie
- Delete cookies for specific websites
Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site from functioning correctly. For instructions on managing cookies in your specific browser, consult your browser's help documentation.
8. Legal Basis
We rely on the following legal bases for using cookies in compliance with the EU ePrivacy Directive and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Essential cookies: Legitimate interest and technical necessity (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive exemption for cookies strictly necessary for the service requested by the user)
- Analytics and Marketing cookies: Your explicit consent, obtained through our cookie consent banner before any non-essential cookies are set (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR)
9. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, changes in technology, or updates to applicable laws and regulations. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we introduce new categories of non-essential cookies, we will seek your consent before setting them. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
